The Society was registered in New Delhi based on extensive discussions with the Office of the Prime Minister (PMO). As per the advice from the PMO, International Watch Society was registered in New Delhi, in the year 2005, primarily to help the citizens of Orissa who will be displaced by the Posco. The PMO wanted to set an example for the rest of the country as well as multinationals that a model people-friendly rehabilitation and resettlement system can be set up, geared toward providing long term welfare and relief for the masses.
